History of Slavery in New Jersey is a public presentation examining New Jersey’s
often-overlooked role in the history of slavery and its lasting impact on the state’s
social and historical landscape. Presented by historian Rick Geffken,
the program provides historical context, regional insight, and archival perspectives
that deepen understanding of enslavement in New Jersey from the colonial era forward.
