About the Our City Series
Our City: Stories That Shape America is part of the GoElizabethNJ250 initiative,
created to capture Elizabeth’s voice during the lead up to America’s 250th anniversary
in 2026. The series focuses on how national milestones, local decisions, and personal
stories intersect right here in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Each week, Mayor Bollwage welcomes a new guest to discuss topics such as:
- Elizabeth’s role as New Jersey’s first permanent English settlement.
- Local businesses, tourism, and economic development.
- Civic engagement, public service, and community leadership.
- Immigration, culture, and the lived experience of residents.
- Historic preservation and the road to America’s 250th anniversary.
Together, these episodes form a living archive of how Elizabeth continues to grow,
adapt, and contribute to the broader story of America.
