Project Description

Union County officially launched its 250th Anniversary commemorative activities with a community Awareness Walk that began at the historic Elizabeth train station and ended with an inspiring flag-raising ceremony. Local officials, community leaders, students, and residents joined in a spirited kickoff that not only honored the founding of America but also reminded everyone of Elizabeth’s foundational role in that story.

The event was part of a broader effort by Union County and RevolutionNJ to raise awareness about the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026. GoElizabethNJ250 proudly participated in this historic moment alongside other partners, distributing promotional materials and engaging with attendees about future storytelling initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and commemorative events.

As we look toward 2026, this walk marked a symbolic first step — both literally and figuratively — in our collective journey to reflect on, share, and celebrate the diverse and revolutionary spirit of Elizabeth and the entire Union County community.
