Join us for the Introductory Panel of the 313+ Ancestors Speak Project, a powerful public memory initiative honoring the lives of 313+ enslaved individuals once buried in unmarked graves in Elizabeth, NJ. This panel introduces the goals of the project, the meaning behind the 313+ Ancestors monument, and the broader effort to engage residents in uncovering and sharing stories of African American history in Union County.
This event is hosted at the Elizabeth Public Library as part of the NJ Rev250 commemoration, supported by a “Jersey Lens” grant from the New Jersey State Library.
